Our story
Our story began in 1942, when goldsmith Eino Räsänen founded a small workshop in the heart of Finland. That workshop is the reason Lumoava exists today — and why every piece we make is still shaped by hand, in Finland, with the same care and conviction.
Every piece in our collection is imagined and handcrafted in Finland, built on over 80 years of expertise. Each curve and fine detail carries a singular message: that you are truly enchanting, exactly as you are.
From a Scorched Pot to a Silver Legacy
The real beginning goes back even further. As the legend goes, Eino Räsänen became so lost in his dreams of design that he forgot his porridge on the stove. The meal was ruined, but the scorched pot gave rise to something far more enduring: the determination to build his own jewelry workshop. The ladle was replaced by a silversmith's hammer, and the very first silver signet ring was made.
A Community Built on Meaning
In Eino's workshop, value was never measured by the material alone, but by the meaning behind the work. Beauty was born from shared feelings, small gestures, and the belief that everyone deserves to feel enchanting.
The workshop was always a place of community. In the bright Finnish summers, workbenches were moved outdoors into the shade of the courtyard birches, and at times, silver spoons were set aside to help bake for a celebration.
Today, that same spirit lives in our workshop in Finland, where our artisans still work by hand. Every Lumoava piece is made to last — not just in material, but in meaning.
A Bold New Era: The Birth of Lumoava
In the early 2000s, the factory faced a real crisis. Traditional designs were no longer selling. Many businesses in our position simply closed.
We didn't. Instead, we started over, with the same hands, the same workshop, and a new name: Lumoava.
It wasn't a rebrand. It was a decision to stop making jewelry that looked like everyone else's, and start making pieces that felt like something.
Today, every Lumoava piece is still made in Finland, by hand, from 100% recycled silver and gold. No shortcuts. No compromises. Just the same stubborn commitment to craft that started with a scorched pot and a silversmith's hammer.
