We only use durable and high-quality materials in our jewelry.

Gold is a chemically almost inert metal. It does not oxidize or rust, which is why it retains its luster and beauty practically forever. The gold we use is 100% recycled.

Silver is a durable precious metal that darkens naturally due to the effects of sulfur compounds in the air. Patina does not weaken the metal and it can always be cleaned and polished again. With proper care, silver can last almost indefinitely. The silver we use is 100% recycled.

Bronze , the main material of the Lumoava Studio collection, is an alloy of copper and tin, of which approximately 88% is recycled. Bronze patinas over time to a greenish hue, which is why our bronze jewelry is finished with a high-quality precious metal coating that protects the surface and gives the jewelry a lasting shine and precious sparkle.

Plating finishes the surface of the jewelry and makes it durable. We use 14 carat gold and rhodium plating, which give Lumoava jewelry its recognizable bright glow and protect the surface from wear. In the Studio collection, we also use a palladium base coating, which creates an even base and beautiful tone, on top of which a layer of either gold or rhodium is added.

• Gold plating is a coating that we use on both silver and bronze jewelry. It finishes the surface with real gold and makes it glow, valuable and durable. Gold plating does not react with chemicals, but its wear is mainly affected by mechanical abrasion – that is why re-plating is recommended for rings when necessary. With the right coating thickness, gold plating will last the entire life of earrings, pendants and bracelets.
  
• Rhodium plating is a coating that we use on silver, bronze and white gold. It helps the jewelry retain its bright shine and stay beautiful for a long time. Without rhodium plating, silver and other metals react easily with oxygen – just like silver spoons, which darken if stored in a box and only used on special occasions.

Lumoava jewelry is carefully crafted to last over time, but it remains at its most beautiful with proper care.

General instructions for all jewelry

• Put on your jewelry last – avoid contact with perfume, cosmetics and hairspray.
• Do not wear jewelry while swimming (salt and chlorinated water) or during strenuous activities/work.
• Store jewelry in a soft box or bag, separate from other jewelry.
• Clean regularly with warm, mild soapy water and a soft cloth or brush.

Silver jewelry

• Silver naturally tarnishes. Rhodium plating slows down the tarnishing, but does not prevent it completely.
• If your silver has become heavily tarnished, bring it to Lumoava Service or our dealer for cleaning.

Gold-plated silver jewelry

• Avoid rubbing, as the gold-plated surface is thin and can wear away.
• If the coating wears off, it can be re-gilded at the Lumoava Huoltamo service.

Gold jewelry

• Gold does not tarnish, but can collect dirt and lose its luster. Clean as you would silver.
• It is a good idea to have the mountings of gemstones and pearls checked regularly by a professional.

We want you to be happy with your purchase, which is why we offer a 14-day return and exchange policy for all products from the date of receipt.

Exceptions:

• Custom-made products do not have the right to return or exchange, as they are individually made to order.
  
• Engraved products do not have a right of return, but they may have a separate right of exchange (see rings).
